We are excited by the prospect of bringing archery to Roosevelt Jr. High, but we need help from the community in order to do so. If you are interested in being a financial sponsor for this program or if you want to be a part of the after-school club please reach out to Mrs. Hurley via email.

Happy Flow Friday! RJH's Health and Wellness council would like to remind you of the benefits of keeping your Jr. High child active. Attached you will find reasons why physical activity is so important, and here are some tips on how to get your child motivated from the book Finding the Magic in Middle School.
1. Make it social. Remember, at this age, students will want to spend as much time with their friends as possible. Being a part of a team or going for a walk with a friend can be great motivators to keep your kid active.
2. Offer choice. At this age, children want as much autonomy as possible. Give them options on the activities they can participate in.
3. Be patient with where they are developmentally. A child in this phase of development will be searching for belonging and an opportunity to find something they excel at. If either of these components is missing from the activity, it might not be the right fit.

Over the last 30 days RJH's faculty and staff have been participating in a 30 day hydration and health and wellness challenge. The community outpoured their love and support to our faculty through sponsorships Because of the overwhelming amount of support we received form our sponsors every faculty member who participated in the challenge was able to walk away with a service from a local business!
If you can't tell by the photo our teachers, faculty, and staff were over joyed by this outpouring of love. Thank you all for your support!

We are so excited for our 3rd quarter PBIS assembly that will happen this Thursday. At this assembly, we recognize students who are demonstrating our PBIS skills of Personal Responsibility, Respect, Integrity, Discipline, and Engagement.
We will also have Tom Ballard speaking to our students. He is affectionately known as the heart rock guy. Each student will receive a heart rock heart rock as a personal reminder that they matter, are loved, and are not alone. The heart rock also doubles as a reminder to create kindness to help others around you.

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” Dr. Seuss

One of the MANY benefits we have seen since implementing our no cell phone policy has been an increase in our students playing, interacting, and creating with one another. Mornings and recess time are no longer spent with students mindlessly scrolling through their electronic devices. Instead, they are playing a wide variety of games inside and outside, having real conversations with each other, and letting their creative sparks shine through.
We know that play has been proven at any age to reduce stress and improve our mental health, enhance creativity and innovation, strengthen relationships, and improve our cognitive function, and at RJHS we will always believe in the power of play and will always try to find opportunities for our students to play!
It appears our faculty has found a way to enjoy some play time as well, as they participated in a corn hole tournament last weekend! Congratulations to the champions
