Parents: The DCSD Online Registration System is now open. Please be aware that class lists/schedules are not finalized at this time and are subject to change.

You can access the system by visiting the parent portal (https://dcsd.powerschool.com), logging in, and clicking the Online Registration link, located near the top-left corner of the screen. You will need to complete the online registration forms for each student. Here are a couple of key points to remember: - If your student has previously been enrolled in the current school, you can complete the online registration forms and do not need to attend a live registration event. -If you are registering a new student in any grade level, you must physically go to the school, and take the other required documents with you (Official Birth Certificate, Immunization Records - TB test results if applicable, Proof of Address, Parenting Plan (must be divorce decree) if applicable. For students in grades 7-12, please include a Withdrawal Form from the previous school and a transcript from that school. -If your student is in junior high or high school, you can click on the following link to pay their registration fees: https://dcsd.schoolcashonline.com. Setting up an account if you don't already have one is relatively easy, but you will need to know a couple of student information points, such as your Student Number. If you need help, you are welcome to contact your school or the district office.

Along with the rest of the state, schools in Duchesne County will have a new cell phone policy starting in August of 2025. It will basically be the same as RJHS and the elementary schools have been operating. Here are a few details. More will follow later in the summer.

RJHS was ahead of the times last year when they released their policy regarding electronic usage, and we are excited that that policy has now become state law! This is a friendly reminder of the electronic usage policy, the expectations, and consequences regarding misuse of electronic devices.

Happy Flow Friday! RJH's Health and Wellness council would like to remind you of the benefits of keeping your Jr. High child active. Attached you will find reasons why physical activity is so important, and here are some tips on how to get your child motivated from the book Finding the Magic in Middle School. 1. Make it social. Remember, at this age, students will want to spend as much time with their friends as possible. Being a part of a team or going for a walk with a friend can be great motivators to keep your kid active. 2. Offer choice. At this age, children want as much autonomy as possible. Give them options on the activities they can participate in. 3. Be patient with where they are developmentally. A child in this phase of development will be searching for belonging and an opportunity to find something they excel at. If either of these components is missing from the activity, it might not be the right fit.

Over the last 30 days RJH's faculty and staff have been participating in a 30 day hydration and health and wellness challenge. The community outpoured their love and support to our faculty through sponsorships Because of the overwhelming amount of support we received form our sponsors every faculty member who participated in the challenge was able to walk away with a service from a local business! If you can't tell by the photo our teachers, faculty, and staff were over joyed by this outpouring of love. Thank you all for your support!

We are so excited for our 3rd quarter PBIS assembly that will happen this Thursday. At this assembly, we recognize students who are demonstrating our PBIS skills of Personal Responsibility, Respect, Integrity, Discipline, and Engagement. We will also have Tom Ballard speaking to our students. He is affectionately known as the heart rock guy. Each student will receive a heart rock heart rock as a personal reminder that they matter, are loved, and are not alone. The heart rock also doubles as a reminder to create kindness to help others around you.

A guide to choosing a book
One of the MANY benefits we have seen since implementing our no cell phone policy has been an increase in our students playing, interacting, and creating with one another. Mornings and recess time are no longer spent with students mindlessly scrolling through their electronic devices. Instead, they are playing a wide variety of games inside and outside, having real conversations with each other, and letting their creative sparks shine through. We know that play has been proven at any age to reduce stress and improve our mental health, enhance creativity and innovation, strengthen relationships, and improve our cognitive function, and at RJHS we will always believe in the power of play and will always try to find opportunities for our students to play! It appears our faculty has found a way to enjoy some play time as well, as they participated in a corn hole tournament last weekend! Congratulations to the champions "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing" George Shaw
